During my senior year at Holy Cross I worked as the Web Writing Intern in the Office of Public Affairs, contributing feature articles and photographs to the college’s website. I covered cultural events and learned valuable lessons about writing for the web. Some of my articles are still available online here.
After college, I worked as the Acquisitions and Publicity Intern at The History Press, a publishing house specializing in local history and ghost stories. It was the ideal place to dive into the publishing world. With only four staffers in the New England office, I was able to make substantive contributions to every part of the business. I waded through the slush pile, pitched news outlets, wrote reader reports, composed back cover copy and perfected the art of envelope stuffing. Situated in a quaint brick-walled loft in historic downtown Salem, it was a wonderful first job. Read a selection of the jacket copy and press releases I wrote for THP here.
In 2011 I moved on to Houghton Mifflin Harcourt’s Trade Division in Boston’s Back Bay, first in the fledgling Digital Strategies Department and then as part of the Marketing Team. Promoted to Web Content Administrator, I became the point-person for the company website (as well as all microsites for individual books and authors), the company’s social media accounts, the marketing blog and many digital partnerships. It was a valuable learning experience. My one-girl-web-team status allowed me to participate in the marketing campaigns for hundreds of books, including The Best American Series, J.R.R. Tolkien paperbacks and The Polar Express. View samples of my work for HMH here.
Currently I work as a freelance digital marketing consultant for businesses and authors in New England, offering a variety of services from social networking to web design. Many otherwise successful businesses are at a loss when it comes to the digital space, and I can make sure they are as visible as possible on the web. You can learn more about my services in detail on my professional site, Winslow Marketing and Design.
I am available as a ghostwriter for bylined articles, blogs, fan newsletters and book-length works. Combining my research abilities and my creative writing background, I strive to create authentic and informative pieces that make my clients proud and enhance the lives of the readers. I preserve the voice of my clients while providing the sophistication of narrative structure and writing quality that may elude them. Discretion is imperative for a ghostwriter, so I only provide modified writing samples upon request.
